As we close the gates on another unforgettable Northern District Fair, we want to pause and extend our deepest gratitude.
To our community – your presence filled the fairgrounds with joy, laughter, and energy. From families making new memories to neighbors reconnecting, you reminded us why this fair is so much more than rides, food, and shows. It’s about coming together and keeping tradition alive.
To our volunteers – your dedication is the heartbeat of the fair. You gave your time, energy, and talents to make sure every detail came together. Whether parking cars, serving food, or lending a hand in the barns, your efforts made the magic possible.
To our board members – your vision, planning, and countless hours of work behind the scenes built the foundation for this week. With many new members joining the board, this has been a year of rebuilding and renewal. Your passion and fresh ideas are helping shape a stronger, brighter future for our fair, and it showed in every detail of this memorable week.
A special thank you to Elliott’s Amusements for bringing the rides, lights, and thrills that made our midway so magical. Your partnership and commitment to our fairgrounds helped create memories for children and families that will last a lifetime.
This year was more than an event—it was proof of what can happen when a community unites. Together, we honored tradition, celebrated our youth, and built memories that will be cherished for years to come.

The countdown is officially on for the Annual Northern District Fair at the Northern District Fairgrounds, happening August 16–22, 2026! After absolutely blowing out our first year under new management, we are beyond excited to welcome everyone back for year two — and we’re coming back even bigger. We’re thrilled to announce that Elliott’s Amusements will return for their second year as our carnival ride company, bringing the lights, thrills, and family fun everyone loved last year. While our full entertainment lineup is still being finalized, we CAN confirm that TK Rodeo is officially on the schedule, along with TNT Demolition Derby taking over Friday and Saturday night with all the crashing, smashing action fair fans wait all year for.

Be sure to stop through our livestock barns throughout the week to support the hardworking youth and families who dedicate countless hours to raising and caring for their animals. From cattle and goats to sheep, rabbits, poultry, and more, the barns are one of the most special traditions of fair week and a great way to experience the heart of our agricultural community. Our livestock sale auction has officially moved to Thursday, August 20th, 2026, and we encourage the community to come support these incredible exhibitors and their projects.

And don’t forget about our amazing still exhibits! From baking, canning, flowers, photography, artwork, sewing, crafts, and homegrown produce to countless creative talents from our community — the exhibit buildings are always full of incredible displays and hidden gems. The still exhibits truly showcase the creativity, skill, and pride of Northern Michigan families of all ages.
